Therapy in Santa Ana, CA | Counselor Johanna Lee

Motherhood in Santa Ana does not happen in isolation. It happens in homes where abuelita’s voice still echoes in the kitchen. In neighborhoods where family lives close, expectations run deep, and sacrifice is part of the story. If you are in the postpartum season here and feel stretched between honoring your roots and protecting your peace, that tension makes sense.

In a city shaped by immigrant resilience and tight knit community, many mamas carry more than sleepless nights. You might be navigating anxiety, identity shifts, financial pressure, or the quiet grief of not feeling like yourself anymore. And because everyone around you is used to surviving, it can feel hard to admit that you need support too.

Postpartum therapy in Santa Ana is not about stepping away from your culture. It is about learning how to stay connected to it without losing yourself. Here, you get space to question, to soften, to feel the anger and the love at the same time. You do not have to perform strength. You get to build a version of motherhood that feels rooted, conscious, and sustainable.

How it works

We start with a gentle intake session where you can share your experiences and goals. This is where we begin to understand what you’ve been holding and what you truly need, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Intake Session

Through ongoing therapy sessions, we’ll dig into your individual needs. I’ll offer tools rooted in mindfulness, self-compassion, and cultural validation,so healing feels like it fits your life, not someone else’s version of self-care.

Follow Up Sessions

We revisit how far you’ve come, name what’s changed, and create a rhythm of support for what’s next,so you leave feeling steady, not dropped.

(# of sessions will vary based on individual needs)

Therapy for Postpartum

If you are a mama in Santa Ana who feels overwhelmed, anxious, or unlike yourself since having your baby, this space is for you. Maybe you are exhausted in a way that sleep does not fix. Maybe you feel guilty for not enjoying every moment. Maybe you are surrounded by family and still feel alone. Postpartum Therapy offers support near you that understands the emotional weight of becoming a mother in a tight-knit, culturally rooted community.

Over time, many women begin to feel steadier and less ashamed of what they are experiencing. The constant self-doubt softens. The pressure to be the strong one eases. Clients often describe feeling more emotionally grounded, clearer in their boundaries, and more connected to themselves while still honoring their role in their family. Relief does not come from doing more. It comes from finally feeling understood.

Compassion-Focused Therapy for Anxiety

If you are living in Santa Ana and your anxiety feels constant, like your mind never fully rests, this space is for you. Maybe you are juggling motherhood, family expectations, and work while trying to keep everyone else steady. In a city where many families live close, and responsibilities are shared across generations, the pressure to hold it together can feel heavy. Compassion-focused therapy for anxiety offers local support near you that understands how culture, responsibility, and survival patterns shape your stress.

Many women begin to notice that their inner voice becomes less harsh over time. The chest tightness softens. The guilt around resting feels less sharp. Instead of reacting in panic or self-criticism, you begin responding with more steadiness and clarity. Clients often describe feeling more present with their children, more grounded in family conversations, and less consumed by worst-case scenarios.

Therapy for Latinas

If you are a Latina or first-gen mom in Santa Ana who feels caught between family expectations and your own needs, this space is for you. Maybe you were raised to stay strong, stay grateful, and put everyone else first. Now you feel overwhelmed, guilty for wanting rest, or unsure how to set boundaries without feeling like you are betraying your roots. Culturally affirming therapy for Latinas & first-gen moms offers support near you that understands the cultural pressure you carry.

Many women begin this work feeling stretched thin and emotionally exhausted. Over time, they often feel more confident in their voice and clearer about what truly belongs to them versus what was inherited. The guilt around saying no becomes less intense. The fear of disappointing family softens. Clients describe feeling more grounded in who they are, not just who they were expected to be.

Postpartum & Early Motherhood Therapy

If you are in Santa Ana navigating the early years of motherhood and feel like you are losing yourself in the process, this space is for you. Maybe you are caring for a newborn or toddler while balancing family expectations and daily responsibilities. You might feel exhausted, emotionally stretched, or unsure of who you are outside of being a mom. Postpartum & early motherhood therapy offers local support near you that understands how layered this season can be.

Many women begin therapy feeling overwhelmed and disconnected. Over time, they often feel more emotionally steady and clearer about their needs. The guilt around asking for help softens. The pressure to do rather than everything perfectly becomes more manageable. Clients frequently describe feeling more present with their children while also reconnecting with parts of themselves that felt lost.

Testimonials

I was working with a first-gen Latina client who shared that she really appreciates that I give her education and examples for different mental health concepts and this helps her think about it in her own terms throughout the week (e.g. like having a full plate and taking just a moment to set it down when we journal so that it doesn’t feel as heavy all the time).

I helped a mom advocate for herself after experiencing workplace harassment throughout her pregnancy. She felt like she was complaining but after processing a couple sessions, she realized that this was one way she could protect herself (even if in the past she wasn’t able to).

I hosted a Baby & Me Parent Community Event focused on 1) donations/swap station for baby & mom items 2) sensory play stations 3) selena dance along 4) new parent mental health 101 & 5) guest speaker on financial education. I had a few moms come up to me during the event saying how helpful it was to get tangible resources and also information to help them in their current season.

Frequently asked questions

  • What payment methods do you accept?

I accept FSA/HSA, debit, or credit card for payment. I do not currently accept insurance and many clients appreciate the privacy, flexibility, and control that comes with paying directly for care (versus utilizing insurance).

  • Can I bring my baby to the session?

Yes—babies are absolutely welcome. I know it’s not always possible to find childcare, and you shouldn’t have to put your healing on hold because of that. Whether you’re nursing, rocking, or soothing during our time together, this space is made with mamá life in mind. Come as you are—messy bun, spit-up, baby in arms and all. (ps snacks are also welcome and often encouraged lol)

  • How long is each session, and how often will we meet?

Sessions are 55 minutes. Most clients start with weekly sessions, but we’ll collaborate to find a rhythm that fits your needs, schedule, and goals.

  • Where are you licensed to provide therapy?

I’m licensed in California, so therapy sessions are available to clients physically located in California at the time of each session. If you're outside California, you can still join my escuelita &/or access non-clinical resources -  View here

  • Therapy vs education disclaimer

Participation in workshops, classes, memberships, or educational resources does not establish a therapeutic relationship. These services are for support, education, and community and are not a substitute for clinical therapy. Therapy services are only available to clients residing in California, provided through a separate intake and consent process.
