Therapy in Anaheim, CA | Counselor Johanna Lee

If you are in Anaheim and waking up multiple times a night with your baby, trying to function the next morning while juggling work schedules, daycare waitlists, or family expectations, I offer postpartum therapy designed for mamas in this exact season. I support women who love their children deeply but feel anxious, irritable, overstimulated, or disconnected from who they used to be. In Anaheim, my role is to provide steady, culturally aware therapy so you can process what motherhood actually feels like, rather than just pushing through it.

I have worked with women throughout Orange County, including neighborhoods like Anaheim Hills and Downtown Anaheim, where many mamas balance service industry hours, long commutes, and multigenerational households. Life here moves quickly, especially near the resort areas and busy commercial zones, and it can feel like there is no space to slow down emotionally. Even in a vibrant city, motherhood can feel isolating when everyone assumes you are “fine.”

Many local mamas choose postpartum therapy because they want more than survival mode. In a city that expects you to keep moving, you deserve a space to pause, regulate your nervous system, and rebuild your confidence as a mother.

How it works

We start with a gentle intake session where you can share your experiences and goals. This is where we begin to understand what you’ve been holding and what you truly need, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Intake Session

Through ongoing therapy sessions, we’ll dig into your individual needs. I’ll offer tools rooted in mindfulness, self-compassion, and cultural validation,so healing feels like it fits your life, not someone else’s version of self-care.

Follow Up Sessions

We revisit how far you’ve come, name what’s changed, and create a rhythm of support for what’s next,so you leave feeling steady, not dropped.

(# of sessions will vary based on individual needs)

Therapy for Postpartum

Postpartum therapy in Anaheim is for you if your days feel nonstop between night wakings, early alarms, and coordinating everyone else’s needs before your own. You might be balancing resort or service industry schedules, long work shifts, or managing childcare while living near Anaheim Hills or Downtown. Even in a vibrant city, you may feel isolated in your exhaustion. You love your baby, but you also feel anxious, overstimulated, or unsure of yourself in ways you did not expect.

Many mamas here carry pressure to “bounce back” quickly and stay productive. Over time in therapy, women often begin to feel less reactive and more emotionally steady. The guilt about needing space softens. Sleep deprivation feels more manageable when your nervous system is supported.

Compassion-Focused Therapy for Anxiety

Compassion-focused therapy for anxiety in Anaheim supports you if your mind feels constantly “on,” even when your body is exhausted. Maybe you replay conversations after family gatherings, worry about finances tied to tourism or service industry work, or feel tense driving through busy streets near Downtown or Anaheim Hills. You might appear calm on the outside while internally bracing for what could go wrong.

Many mamas here are used to pushing through stress without acknowledging it. Over time in therapy, women often begin to feel less self-critical and more regulated in their daily reactions. The tightness in your chest softens. The constant overthinking becomes more manageable when you stop treating yourself like the problem.

Therapy for Latinas

Culturally affirming therapy for Latinas & first-gen moms in Anaheim is for you if you feel pulled between honoring your family and building something different for yourself. Maybe you’re navigating multigenerational expectations in a home near Downtown or Anaheim Hills, where traditions run deep, and opinions are shared freely. You might feel pressure to be grateful, strong, and self-sacrificing even when you’re exhausted.

Many women here are balancing service industry work, long hours, and family loyalty all at once. In therapy, clients often begin to feel clearer about which expectations are truly theirs and which were inherited. The guilt around setting boundaries softens. You start to feel more confident in your voice as a mother and daughter.

Postpartum & Early Motherhood Therapy

Postpartum & early motherhood therapy in Anaheim supports you if you feel like the newborn stage never really ended, it just changed form. Maybe you are now managing toddler meltdowns near Downtown, juggling preschool waitlists in Anaheim Hills, or trying to stay patient after a long shift. You might look like you are handling it, but internally feel overstimulated, touched out, and unsure of who you are becoming.

Many mamas here move quickly from surviving the early weeks into nonstop caregiving without pausing to process the identity shift. In therapy, women often begin to feel less reactive and more intentional. The guilt about needing time alone softens. You start reconnecting with parts of yourself that feel buried under responsibility.

Testimonials

I was working with a first-gen Latina client who shared that she really appreciates that I give her education and examples for different mental health concepts and this helps her think about it in her own terms throughout the week (e.g. like having a full plate and taking just a moment to set it down when we journal so that it doesn’t feel as heavy all the time).

I helped a mom advocate for herself after experiencing workplace harassment throughout her pregnancy. She felt like she was complaining but after processing a couple sessions, she realized that this was one way she could protect herself (even if in the past she wasn’t able to).

I hosted a Baby & Me Parent Community Event focused on 1) donations/swap station for baby & mom items 2) sensory play stations 3) selena dance along 4) new parent mental health 101 & 5) guest speaker on financial education. I had a few moms come up to me during the event saying how helpful it was to get tangible resources and also information to help them in their current season.

Frequently asked questions

  • What payment methods do you accept?

I accept FSA/HSA, debit, or credit card for payment. I do not currently accept insurance and many clients appreciate the privacy, flexibility, and control that comes with paying directly for care (versus utilizing insurance).

  • Can I bring my baby to the session?

Yes—babies are absolutely welcome. I know it’s not always possible to find childcare, and you shouldn’t have to put your healing on hold because of that. Whether you’re nursing, rocking, or soothing during our time together, this space is made with mamá life in mind. Come as you are—messy bun, spit-up, baby in arms and all. (ps snacks are also welcome and often encouraged lol)

  • How long is each session, and how often will we meet?

Sessions are 55 minutes. Most clients start with weekly sessions, but we’ll collaborate to find a rhythm that fits your needs, schedule, and goals.

  • Where are you licensed to provide therapy?

I’m licensed in California, so therapy sessions are available to clients physically located in California at the time of each session. If you're outside California, you can still join my escuelita &/or access non-clinical resources -  View here
